Mission Statement

We are committed to continually foster economically sustainable relationships between American investors and African businesses.

Our challenge is to identify and develop those African businesses that have growth potential, and assist them to better understand profit-making and maximization so that they may empower their shareholders, the immediate communities in which they operate and, eventually, their countries and the wider African continent.

We do this by investing in and building on middle market companies, where we see the greatest opportunity to create value for our limited partners and ourselves.

In conducting our business, we maintain and implement the highest ethical standards.

The motto of our firm is respect, integrity, and excellence.

History

K&A Private Equity, LLC was initially created in Paris through the initiative of Ephra Kazadi, an African entrepreneur with a background in the diamond industry and who has been trading in mineral commodities between Africa and the United States of America for close to a decade, and his partners. Julien Bellahsene, a business attorney, specializes in M&A, while the other two partners, Nicolas Bertrand, a quantitative analyst, and Hubert De Blignières, an investment banker, later joined the firm.

The Partners decided to transfer the firm in New York Financial District, to be closer to potential American investors and to take full advantage of the economic dynamism of New York, as the world’s leading financial centre.

K&A is the first New York based investment company that is focused exclusively on African businesses. The firm was established to serve African businesses, to support their investments, to develop their competitiveness, and to create opportunities for them.

Activities

K&A seeks to make investments in companies that are located primarily on the African continent, the world’s fastest growing economic region. Our firm raises funds from a broad range of investors, including Institutional investors, Development Finance Institutions (DIF), Sovereign Wealth Funds, and family businesses.

Because we are driven in part by our commitment to meet our investors’ investment goals and provide them with a satisfactory high return on their committed capital, we focus our investments on the few select companies that possess the potential for growth and unique features. Our strategy is to always acquire a majority position in such companies.

We bring resources, financial and human, to our portfolio companies to support their development and growth. Our close collaboration with their management is key to improve their overall performance.

We seek investments primarily in companies engaged in 3 sectors in which we have deep knowledge :
